Frequently Asked Questions:

How much spending money is needed?
Nighttime activities include trips to the movies, mall, amusement parks etc. Plan on bringing approximately $100 for a one-week stay.
*We strongly advise sending your child with a prepaid Visa/Mastercard debit card. Cash advances, cashing of personal checks, and room charging is not allowed. Gift cards in $50 increments can be purchased in advance to be used at any of the outlets at Saddlebrook Resort including restaurants, Pro Shop, Spa etc.
Cash, passports, tickets and other valuable papers can be kept in the safe in the Saddlebrook Tennis Office with limited access (M-F 3:00 - 4:00pm. Do not keep cash in your room.

When should I plan to arrive and depart?
Plan to arrive early afternoon on Sunday (Orientation is at 4:00pm) and depart the following Saturday (Checkout is at noon).
Transportation is provided to and from Tampa International Airport. Please make sure travel information is filled out completely on application.

Racquets (at least 2) *Stringing service available at our Pro Shop.
Broken in tennis sneakers (running shoes are highly discouraged and will not be allowed on hard courts.)
8-10 pairs of socks, hats, shorts and t-shirts for everyday workouts, casual clothes for evening activities, and bathing suit,

Personal toiletries including; sunscreen, band-aids, and any incidental (Tylenol/Advil) or prescribed medicines.
Cell phones are allowed but will be taken away if they are abused or used at inappropriate times. Calling cards are suggested as an alternative.
*Saddlebrook is not responsible for lost or stolen articles. We do not recommend bringing expensive or unnecessary items such as laptops, video games, etc. Please mark all personal items with camper's name.

Who will my roommates be?
Saddlebrook is an international program and attracts juniors from all over the world. Juniors are housed in suites that can accommodate up to 6 occupants. There is a section on the application for roommate requests and in most cases we are able to satisfy requests.

Is there supervision?
Saddlebrook Resort is a gated property with 24 hour security. Resident assistants are on duty round the clock and very young campers are usually placed in the room with an RA or in an adjoining room.

How will the campers be grouped on-court?
Campers are grouped by level of ability (not necessarily by age or gender).
During the first few sessions of camp adjustments will be made in order to match up campers as accurately as possible. Sessions will consist of technique instruction, various live ball drills, match and point play, and on and off-court fitness.

What is the food like?
All of the camper meals are prepared by our resort chef - no cafeteria food here! They are served buffet style and have plenty of healthy options for kids to enjoy. Should your child have a food allergy or special request such as kosher or vegetarian meals please let us know ahead of time and we will happily accommodate your needs.

Can a camper receive mail?
Packages and letters will be delivered to the Saddlebrook Tennis Office. Please provide ample time for delivery as packages and letters received at our shipping department take an additional day to be delivered to the tennis office and then to your child. Letters sent regular mail to a camper here for only one week may not have enough time for delivery.

What happens if a camper breaks the rules?
We take our responsibility of ensuring a camper's safety very seriously; therefore our enforcement of rules and regulations is quite strict. Saddlebrook reserves the right to remove a child from camp and send them home without refund should their actions break the rules and/or endanger themselves, their peers, or our staff. Please make sure parents and children have read the rules and regulations section of our application thoroughly before orientation.
