Boarding/Accommodations
The boarding program is designed to accommodate students participating in the athletic and academic programs. Students are welcome to use the fitness facility and swimming pool located at Lakeside Village. Students take weekly trips to grocery and convenience store to purchase additional snacks and drinks for their room or any incidentals they might need. Additional activities are scheduled including trips to the movies and the mall based on the tournament schedules. These activities are separate to the variety of academic field trips organized each year.
Students are housed in two bedroom condominium units on Saddlebrook Resort. Each unit contains a bath for each bedroom, a living/dining area, a kitchen and a patio and are regularly maintained by the resort maintenance staff. Students are responsible for making their beds daily, washing their clothes, keeping personal items neatly stored and the kitchen clean. Once a week, the Saddlebrook housekeeping staff changes the linen and cleans the bathrooms and kitchen, and vacuums each unit. Housekeeping replaces towels everyday. Rooms are inspected daily by the Resident Assistants (RAs) and routinely by the Director of Student Affairs and the Supervisor of Boarding.
Curfew is 8:30pm and lights out Monday through Thursday is 10:15pm. Friday and Saturday lights out for 6-10th graders is 11:00pm and 12:00am for 11th and 12th graders. This is enforced with nightly bed checks conducted by the RAs. Supervisory and support services are in place for boarding students.
RAs provide counseling, transportation and supervisory services. Furthermore, they are responsible for organizing and implementing the after school activities mentioned above. The RAs are overseen by the Supervisor of Boarding, who reports to the Director of Student Affairs.
Emergency medical assistance is available to students on a 24-hour basis by the resort security staff who are trained in CPR and emergency first aid. Hospitals, walk-in clinics and specialists are all located within a fifteen-mile radius of the school. Doctor visits are scheduled through the school as needed.
Meals provided by the resort are both nutritional and attractively served. Students have a variety of food items from which to choose. Students are supervised by administrators and teachers during breakfast and dinner and by RAs during dinner.
The Saddlebrook Student-Parent Handbook is distributed to students and parents upon arrival. The content of the handbook, which includes academic policies and procedures, boarding rules and regulations and the student code of conduct, is explained to parents and students during orientation. Each student is responsible for reading and understanding the contents of the handbook and must sign a document acknowledging this.
