Ms. Christine Bushong
Media Specialist & French
cbushong@saddlebrookresort.com
Education/Background:
M.A. Library and Information Science, University of South Florida
B.A. French and Political Science, University of California at Santa Barbara
Teaching Philosophy:
As a Media Specialist, I believe that successful students of the 21st century must master information literacy skills in order to become effective users of information and ideas. These are lifelong learning skills that will serve them well during the rest of their formal education and beyond.
As a French teacher, I believe in a collaborative relationship between student and teacher, a continual feedback loop that customizes individual learning progress. Furthermore, language learning demands many of the same skills as athletics: the physical skills that must be learned through repetition and drill; the memorization of the "rules of the game;" and the intellectual skills of putting a thought into action. A complete language education includes building listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Self-discipline is required to master these skills, but it is rewarded with an appreciation for the beauty of a foreign language and the ability to communicate with peoples of different cultures and lands.
